The Truth About “I’ll Feel Better When…

There’s something about the start of a new month, and especially a new quarter, that makes you pause and look at things a little differently. Not in a “new me overnight” kind of way. But in a real way.A reflective way.A “what’s actually been going on with me?” kind of way.


As we step into April, I’ve been thinking about how much can shift in a short amount of time.

My Confessions of a High-Achieving Woman series recently came to an end on a beautiful note, and one of the biggest things I’m grateful for is the new women who found their way into this space because of it.


So if that’s you, welcome. I’m really glad you’re here.


This season reminded me of something important:


Women aren’t just looking for motivation. We’re looking for honesty. We’re looking for community. We’re looking for spaces where we can be real about what’s working, what’s heavy, and what we’re still trying to figure out, without feeling like we have to perform our way through it.


And one thought that’s been sitting with me lately is this:

Would my nervous system feel more regulated if I felt safer financially?


Whew. That’s a real question. Because while we talk a lot about burnout, overwhelm, and rest…we don’t always talk enough about the pressure that finances can create behind the scenes. The mental load.The decision fatigue.The responsibility.The constant awareness of what needs to be handled. For a lot of high-achieving women, stress isn’t just about being busy. It’s about carrying a lot.


And yes, financial pressure, uncertainty, or even just the constant thought of “I need to make sure everything is handled” can absolutely keep your body in a heightened state.

So no, you’re not imagining it. But here’s where I want to shift your perspective a little.

You’ve probably had moments where things were fine financially…and you still felt:

  • overwhelmed

  • anxious

  • on edge

  • unable to relax


So what does that tell you? Financial security and nervous system safety are not the same thing. And a lot of high-achieving women confuse the two.


We tell ourselves:

“I’ll relax when I make more.” “I’ll feel better when things are stable.” “I’ll breathe when everything is handled.”


But the truth?

If your body doesn’t know how to feel safe now… more money won’t teach it.


And I’m not saying finances don’t matter, because they do. But peace doesn’t come from chasing control. Because there will always be: another bill, another goal, another level, another responsibility. So if your safety is tied to everything being handled…you’ll always be waiting.


This is something that came up a lot during the Confessions of a High-Achieving Woman series. So many women realized:

They weren’t just tired. They were overstimulated.Overextended.And disconnected from themselves. Even while doing “well.” And that awareness? That’s not a setback. That’s a starting point.


So as we move into this new quarter, I don’t want you to just ask: “What do I need to do next?”


I want you to ask:

👉 What actually makes me feel safe?

👉 Where am I relying on control instead of regulation?

👉 What would it look like to support myself differently?


Because growth isn’t just about doing more. It’s about doing things differently.


This month, I want this to feel less like pressure…and more like permission.

Permission to check in honestly.Permission to name what’s heavy.Permission to stop pretending you’re “fine” when your body has been trying to get your attention.

And permission to not do that work alone.
